Official Opening

The official opening of the New Horizons Seniors Community Garden took place on the afternoon of Sunday, June 27, 2010.

More than 50 people attended the opening to support the project and to see the progress of the garden and the raised beds already planted. Dignitaries in attendance included Sunshine Coast Regional District chair Donna Shugar, Sechelt mayor Darren Inkster, Gibsons councillor Gerry Tretick, and New Horizons for Seniors Program representative Janice Nelson.

Strawberry shortcake (featuring BC berries) and beverages were served by garden volunteers, followed by tours of the vegetable garden and the botanical garden property.

Seniors Community Garden committee chair Lori Pickering welcomes those
attending the official opening.
